A Lehigh Acres man is facing several charges for sexual crimes involving a child and animals.
According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Jeremy Brian Brumbaugh, 21, was indicted on capital child sexual battery and related charges.
Brumbaugh was transferred from federal custody to state custody to face four capital felony counts of sexual battery on a child less than 12 years of age, two felony counts of lewd or lascivious molestation and one felony count of sexual activities with animals.
According to Lee County Clerk of Courts documents, the crimes happened in 2023.
FDLE said a Florida grand jury indicted Brumbaugh on March 5, 2024, and at the time, he faced trial for federal charges by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida.
On Tuesday, March 25, he was taken into the custody of Florida to face charges from FDLE's criminal investigation.
According to Lee County Clerk of Courts documents, Brumbaugh filed a written plea of not guilty. He is scheduled to appear in court for a motions hearing and arraignment hearing on Monday, March 31st at 8:30 am.
According to a news release, the FDLE Fort Myers cybercrime unit is investigating the case.
