A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the death of a LaBelle woman who was shot at a home in the Port LaBelle area.
According to the Hendry County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the home Friday at approximately 11 p.m. and found Priscilla Danielle Hallihan, 34, unresponsive with a gunshot wound.
Deputies said she was shot in the back of the head. According to the HCSO report, the suspect was standing in the backyard approximately 15 feet from the residence.
According to the report, Hallihan was sitting on a couch in the living room when she was struck. She was transported to Hendry Regional Medical Center in Clewiston but was pronounced dead.
“The death of Ms. Hallihan is a senseless murder,” Hendry County Sheriff Steve Whidden said via a news release. We are working around the clock to follow up on leads and information we are receiving. We would like to extend our sympathies, thoughts and prayers to the victim’s family and ask that their privacy be respected during this time.”
The following morning, deputies arrested Antonio Mario Arenivar in connection to the incident.
He was taken into custody and charged with the following:
- Homicide
- Attempted homicide
- Shooting into an occupied dwelling
- Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony
- Tampering with evidence
- Use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony
According to the HCSO, Arenivar was taken to the Department of Juvenile Justice Facility.
Hendry County deputies said this is an ongoing investigation, additional arrests may be forthcoming and anyone with further information can contact detectives at 863-674-5600.
