More affordable housing is coming to North Fort Myers as crews are breaking ground on a nearly 200-unit development on Bayshore Road.
The new Bayshore Pines development at 5361 Bayshore Road broke ground on March 31.
The nearly $70 million affordable housing complex has been made possible through the partnership between Onda Housing Group, Lee County, Florida Housing Finance Corporation and other agencies.
The goal is to provide 180 rental units to families in need to help combat the affordable housing crisis.
This is the second affordable housing development in the works for North Fort Myers.
Hermosa North Fort Myers broke ground last month just off North Cleveland Avenue.
That development contains another 160 units for qualifying seniors and veterans who make 60% or less of the area’s median income, which is roughly around $56,000 to $58,000 per year.
