A DeSoto Correctional Institution employee was arrested on Saturday after being accused of trying to smuggle drugs into the prison.
According to the DeSoto County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded after other staff at the facility discovered Jocealynn Saranne Shannon trying to smuggle illegal drugs into the institution- including cocaine and marijuana on March 29.
Shannon was arrested and taken to Desoto County jail, where she is facing felony charges of Smuggling Contraband into a Correctional Institution, Possession of a Controlled Substance without a Prescription and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
