The Cape Coral Police Department is encouraging teen drivers to enroll in a free, three-hour course designed to improve driving skills and teach safe practices behind the wheel.
According to the police department, the program is open to drivers ages 15 to 18 and focuses on safe driving habits, avoiding distractions and understanding what to do if pulled over.
Known as the Teen Driver Challenge, the class is sponsored by the Florida Department of Transportation and aims to reduce crashes among teen drivers.
The classes will be held every other Saturday in May on the 3rd, 17th, and 31st from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Parents or teens interested in signing up can email TeenDriverChallenge@capecoral.gov or speak to their school resource officer for more details.
