A local business is mourning after their employee was murdered.
Priscilla Hallihan, a 34-year-old mother of four, was shot and killed late Saturday night while sitting on the couch with her four young children inside her home on South Montana Circle in Labelle.
Deputies said 17-year-old Antonio Arenivar shot at one of her windows from the backyard. A bullet struck Hallihan in the head.
Arenivar was arrested at his home on June Circle early Sunday morning, and a second 17-year-old was arrested as a person of interest on Monday. This individual faces an unrelated misdemeanor charge for possession of a gun as a minor.
The Hendry County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding Hallihan's tragic death and is looking into any potential involvement from other individuals.
Hallihan's colleagues at Forrey Grill, where she worked as a waitress, are deeply grieving the loss of both a dedicated employee and a cherished friend.
Amanda Johnson, owner of Forrey Grill, said they are struggling to work, and sometimes, they need to step away and take a break just to get through their shifts.
Johnson said, "She had such a good heart. She would do anything for anybody. Her kids were her number one priority."
Troy Avery, a coworker who shared a close bond with Hallihan, reflected on his final memory of her. "The last memory I have with her was the Saturday before it happened," Avery said. "She brought me coffee, and I'm like I need a hug. and so I got that hug, its really a precious memory."
"Her kids, I just pray that that that, that, that, that God will just protect them and his love around them. But, she was just a it's a senseless thing to happen in a town like this," said Avery.
Avery said, "She was a beam of light. Every time she came in she gave 120 percent when she was here and just always gave up a bubbly and kind word to anything. She just had that giving spirit."
Dalet Arguello said, "I still don't believe it yet. She always talked about her kids, and now, she's. She's dead. So, who's going to take care of her kids?"
" I feel like people think, Oh, there's more to this story. Like, why did they kill her? And I feel like there's no reason to even think that way. She was a good person. And, yeah, she made mistakes in life. But there's no reason for her to die, especially in front of her kids like that," said Arguello.
