Six months after Hurricane Milton, the south entrance to Englewood Beach parking lot has reopened.
The Englewood Beach shoreline looks like a postcard, but take a couple of steps out to the parking lot, and some will say it looks like a flashback.
Six months after Hurricane Milton, visitors are walking through debris piles and businesses closed off with yellow tape — a reminder of the rough journey.
"Debris, boats in the road, houses in the middle of the road. Just -- it was devastating, really," said Chris Atamanchuk, the manager at the Sandbar Tiki & Grille.
But amid the rubble is a glimmer of resilience, and it comes in the unlikely form of traffic.
The south entrance to the Englewood Beach parking lot is finally open, giving people access to the partially reopened beach park.
After months, this entrance feels like golden arches, the shore a shell goldmine and a step closer to what these locals are used to.
