Ronna Smith, the principal of Oakridge Middle School, sent the following message to parents and staff:
"Dear Bulldog Families,
A concerning message was found in a bathroom wall on campus this afternoon. The Collier County Sheriff’s Office was immediately notified and is actively investigating. Out of an abundance of caution, there will be increased law enforcement presence on campus tomorrow.
Keeping our school safe is our number one priority. This requires all students and parents to stay vigilant and make sure if they see or hear something, they say something. Please talk to your child about the serious consequences that may result from making a threat — verbal, written, or an image — against another student or a school. Remind your child, that if they see something of concern to report it immediately to an adult and not to spread it, including reposting or sharing on social media. Please click here to view a one-minute video regarding threats and their consequences.
We appreciate your trust in our school and the dedicated professionals who work alongside the CCPS administrative team as well as our law enforcement professionals. As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to give me a call or email me.
Ronna Smith
Principal, Oakridge Middle School"
