Police are investigating a carjacking and sexual assault at a RaceTrac gas station on U.S. Route 41 in North Port Thursday morning.
According to the North Port police, they have been investigating alongside the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office since the carjacking happened in North Port County and the reported sexual assault took place in Charlotte County.
Police surrounded the RaceTrac gas station at 18999 Tamiami Trail.
The North Port Police Department said Jorge Daniel Martin, a 26-year-old man out of Port Charlotte, was arrested on charges of false imprisonment, carjacking and assault. He was booked without bond.
NPPD also said CCSO is continuing its investigation, and additional charges are pending.
