A new Costco could be coming to Collier County, but the idea is not sitting well with everyone.
Costco is looking to build at the intersection of Collier Boulevard and Rattlesnake Hammock Road, with the nearest Costco currently about 20 minutes away.
Back in February, Gulf Coast News attended a Naples neighborhood meeting where hundreds of people showed up to express both support and outrage at the idea.
"It's all that noise pollution and more and more traffic," said Tom Aragno, Esplanade HOA president.
"At the end of the day, maybe not as offensive as people think. This is just an initial public outcry. Not in my backyard. It's not going to work. But over time, it'll dissipate and people get used to it. And then we'll be happy to drive our golf carts a mile down the road and get lunch," said Naples resident David Giangrossi.
Ultimately, most folks told Gulf Coast News they don't have a problem bringing in a new Costco to Collier County; it's just a matter of where it would go.
