On April 8, the House State Affairs Committee unanimously supported the proposed House Bill 209 to preserve Florida's national parks.
This bill would prevent the construction of golf courses, pickleball courts, and resorts within the state park system.
The goal of the bill is to preserve Florida's natural beauty and to protect its 175 natural parks.
This bill comes after a proposal calling for golf courses, resort-style lodges, and pickleball courts to be built on 10 state parks sparked controversy last year.
That proposal was eventually pulled back.
House Bill 209 is now headed to the House to be voted on.
