A U.S. Army Veteran was honored at JetBlue park for his service to our nation. In “Positively Gulf Coast,” he was one of dozens welcomed to the game.
First Sergeant Adam Engelhart threw out the first ceremonial first pitch at a recent Red Sox spring training game. This opportunity is thanks to a program called Home Base Florida . It's one of the first and largest non-profits in the country dedicated to healing the invisible wounds of war.
Engelhart was recognized for his service and for overcoming the challenges of transitioning to civilian life during the game. About 150 veterans and military families were also at the game thanks to Home Base's partnership with the Red Sox Foundation .
We thank all our veterans for their service.
Florida Gulf Coast University was also recognized at the game. FGCU received the General Fred Franks Award . FGCU is a strategic partner with Home Base Florida. The award recognizes those who are dedicated to Veteran care.
“FGCU is inspired by the work of General Fred Franks so to receive this award is quite an honor to be celebrated for our devotion to Veterans,” said Dr. Eileen Deluca, FGCU Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and Chief of Staff.
