A man jumped from the roof of a four-story apartment building into a shallow pool at the West End Apartments near downtown Fort Myers, leaving neighbors appalled by the dangerous stunt.
The incident, which occurred on Saturday, was captured on video. The man is seen pacing on the roof of the West End Apartments on McGregor, looking over the edge several times before jumping into the pool.
He emerged from the water moments later, seemingly fine, and high-fived his friends afterward.
The person who shared the video said the man was encouraged by friends to go through with the jump.
"I doubt if he's able to really calculate if he'll make it or not. And then it's it doesn't mean you're going to die. But you could get a spinal in and then you're living with that for the rest of your life," said Michael Lowe, who was visiting West End.
Gulf Coast News reached out to the West End Apartments for comment, but they declined. Fort Myers police said they were never called about the incident.
