A Lee County man was convicted of smuggling cocaine through his shipping business in a one-day trial.
Cape Coral Police Department arrested Baldomero Alanis Jr., 44, for being a part of a drug smuggling operation that involved bringing cocaine from Texas to Southwest Florida.
According to the state attorney's office, Alanis pretended to be operating a legitimate shipping company that delivered fruit and other commodities. Instead, he used a semi-truck to drive kilos of cocaine to Florida.
