A man has been found guilty of a shooting that took place in 2023.
On April 9, Shawndell Deandre McCann Joseph, 31, was convicted on shooting charges that took place at an East Naples apartment complex.
According to the State Attorney's Office, after the shooting, Joseph fled the crime scene and was found hiding nearby by the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.
He was charged with Shoot At/Within or Into a Dwelling/Building, Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence, Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling and Resisting/Obstruction of an Officer without Violence
This crime also violated Joseph's probation, in which he was convicted of armed robbery in 2012. There was a violation of probation hearing in February 2024 and the defendant was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
The State Attorney Office said, since the Joseph is a prison releasee reoffender, he will be sentenced to a minimum of 15 years in prison when he is sentenced on this new case. His sentencing is scheduled for May 5, 2025.
