The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office announced it is reviewing a video captured Sunday of a man holding a firearm and threatening people from his dock in Port Charlotte.
According to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the home after reports came in about a man brandishing a gun and threatening people on a boat.
Deputies said the argument stemmed from the placement of crab traps near the man's boat lift.
According to the CCSO, deputies determined no crime had been committed after they reviewed the facts of the incident.
The CCSO said its Criminal Investigations Unit followed up on the case Monday and also determined no crime was committed.
According to the CCSO, the man did retrieve a firearm as the verbal altercation escalated; however, he did not raise it at any time and kept it down by his leg. Deputies explained that this was not a crime as he was on his property and was never seen pointing the weapon at anyone else despite the boaters continuing to shout at him.
The CCSO said the case remains open at this time, but it wanted to share this information with the community to "quell any rumors" and show it is investigating.
