Widespread power outages were reported across Cape Coral on Tuesday afternoon, with a utility company website showing Pine Island, Sanibel and Captiva with a 99% outage.
According to the Lee County Electric Cooperative map, as of 1:15 p.m., the outage also includes 84% of southwest Cape Coral, 44% of the northwest part of the city, and 16% of the southeast, with the northeast remaining unaffected.

LCEC said the issue began around 12:40 p.m. and crews were dispatched to find out why the transmission line is having an outage. This is impacting several substations, but a cause has not been determined yet
