A brush fire has prompted evacuations and road closures Wednesday afternoon in a residential neighborhood of Hendry County.
According to the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office, the large fire spread across an area from North Cabbage Palm at Horse Club west to North Utopia Street, and from Camino Real Boulevard at North Utopia Street east to North Cabbage Palm.
Homes in the affected area were evacuated, and electricity was shut off as a precaution.
Firefighters and sheriff’s deputies urged residents and drivers to stay away from the area.
