A juvenile was arrested for animal cruelty on April 13 in Fort Myers.
The Fort Myers Police Department received an anonymous tip about a juvenile seen throwing kittens onto the rooftop of the clubhouse at Royal Palm Gardens. When officers arrived on the scene, they found one dead kitten.
The next day, the community policing coordinator reviewed footage of the juvenile getting two kittens. Moments later, they can be seen throwing one of them onto the roof of the clubhouse.
Based on the evidence, the CPC had probable cause to arrest the juvenile for aggravated animal cruelty causing excessive pain or death.
On April 16, the CPC did a follow-up investigation at Royal Palm Gardens regarding the arrest.
During the visit, the property manager reported seeing a kitten behind the clubhouse, and a tenant confirmed receiving another kitten around the same time.
Both kittens were safely recovered and taken to the Gulf Coast Humane Society.
The Humane Society confirmed both animals are okay and in good health.
