Our latest drought monitor shows that drought has worsened for the Gulf Coast.
With very low humidity in place on Thursday, fire danger remains high across the entire region. Avoid any activities that could spark a brush fire. The main ingredients for high fire danger are dry conditions, low humidity and breezy weather. The good news is that winds should stay fairly calm, but with low humidity and no rain anytime soon, the area will be vulnerable to brush fires.
Higher humidity will work back into the region on Easter Sunday and remain high through next week, helping to ease the fire threat slightly.
Over the next week, there's no rain in the forecast. Expect drought conditions to persist or worsen over the region. The drought monitor is updated every Thursday.
