Research at the University of Florida and Centre College in Kentucky found that almost all alligator attacks are caused by risky human behavior.
In the study, they ranked how risky human behavior was before an alligator bit them. According to a wildlife ecology professor from the University of Florida, most bites only happen when people walk too close to the water where the gators are or when people are intoxicated and bother them.
Alligators are very territorial, especially during mating season.
Experts warn to make sure you stay away from alligators.
