Fort Myers city leaders are holding a hearing on Monday to discuss rezoning land for a new Costco location to address congestion at the current site on Cypress Lake Drive and US-41.
The new location would be along Metro Parkway , just south of Colonial Boulevard. The area is known for its heavy traffic and congestion.
Mayor Kevin Anderson said last month that the new Costco location would benefit the people who live and work in the area, noting, "We have outgrown the Cypress Lake Drive location. With the new wholesale store, we would see more products and more pumps at the gas."
However, according to the staff report, some people have expressed concerns over increased traffic and noise.
Residents can share their opinions with Fort Myers city council leaders at the council meeting on Monday, April 21, at 4:30 p.m. at Fort Myers City Hall, 2200 Second Street.
