A man was arrested for throwing rocks at drivers along Palm Beach Boulevard, nearly injuring some occupants in vehicles.
At approximately 5:21 a.m. Tuesday, Lee County deputies received a call about a man throwing objects at moving vehicles. After arriving on the scene, deputies spotted a man matching the description given to them.
According to the LCSO report, the man, later identified as 21-year-old Christian Moreno, ran away from deputies until stopping shortly after.
Deputies then interviewed the victims after detaining Moreno.
One victim said he was traveling westbound on Palm Beach Blvd in the outside lane approaching Joppa Lane when Moreno suddenly threw a hard object at his vehicle. According to the report, he said the right rear fender area of his vehicle was damaged.
Another victim who was an occupant in a different vehicle said she heard a loud noise that sounded like a gunshot, then looked up to see the front windshield completely smashed.
According to LCSO, medium-sized blacktop was found on the scene. LCSO detectives also found multiple rocks scattered throughout the area.
Moreno was taken to the Lee County Jail and is facing the following charges:
- 2 counts of weapon offense (missile into dwelling, vehicle, building or aircraft)
- Resisting an officer (obstruction without violence)
- Trespassing structure or conveyance
