The Florida Everblades are moving on to the second round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs after securing a 4-3 OT win over the Jacksonville Icemen.
It was another game that took some extra time to finish, but the Everblades came out on top again and notched a series sweep over the Icemen. All four games of this series ended in OT.
This is the fourth consecutive year that the Everblades eliminated the Icemen in the Kelly Cup Playoffs.
Jacksonville's Logan Cockerill opened up the scoring quickly with a goal 3:47 into the first period.
However, the Everblades didn't head into the first intermission empty-handed. Kyle Betts scored with less than a minute left in the first to tie the game 1-1.
The second period belonged to the Blades as Cole Moberg and Colton Hargrove scored to put them up 3-1 after two periods.
The Icemen didn't go away quietly, though, as they came roaring back with two goals from Christopher Brown and another one from Logan Cockerill to send the game to overtime.
Logan Lambdin was the OT hero for the Everblades as he scored the game-winner after 12:02 minutes of extra time.
The Blades will now await the winner of the series between the ECHL South division's top-seeded South Carolina Stingrays and the fourth-seeded Orlando Solar Bears. The Stingrays currently lead that series 3-2 after winning in OT by a 4-3 score as well Thursday night.
