Get ready to go red for women. Cardiovascular disease affects your heart and blood vessels, and nearly half of women ages 20 and older are living with some form of it.
Jessica Rodriguez from the American Heart Association joined Gulf Coast News to tell us more about this disease as well as an upcoming event to raise money and awareness for women.
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women, claiming more lives than all cancers combined, and continues to be women’s greatest health threat . According to the American Heart Association, as women grow and change, so does their risk for CVD. The good news is that the majority of cardiovascular disease incidents can be prevented through lifestyle changes and education.
Launched more than two decades ago to increase women’s heart health awareness, Go Red for Women is the American Heart Association’s global movement designed to serve as a catalyst for change to improve the health of women.
The Southwest Florida Go Red for Women luncheon is happening May 2 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is happening at the Ritz-Carlton Naples, Tiburón. Tickets are still available.
