A 24-year-old man is accused of attacking a 79-year-old Cove of Rotunda golf course employee over slow play.
According to Charlotte County deputies, a 24-year-old man, identified as Aaron Carbo, was asked by a 79-year-old golf course employee to speed up his play, as he was reportedly holding up other players. That’s when deputies say Carbo snapped — allegedly attacking the employee in broad daylight.
Golf, a sport often praised for its calm and courteous nature, took a violent turn last Friday. Witnesses say after being told to pick up the pace, Carbo got out of his golf cart and punched the employee, knocking him to the ground.
Another employee rushed to defend the older victim, striking Carbo and knocking him down. Deputies arrested both men — Carbo for battery on a person over 65, and the other for battery.
The condition of the 79-year-old employee has not been publicly released.
