On Friday, a man was sentenced to five years in prison in Fort Myers after he was convicted of attacking another man at a bus stop in 2024.
Darrell Cornell Williams was convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery.
The victim was standing at a bus stop when Williams walked up to him and began yelling. When the victim turned his back, Williams struck him in the head with a hard object.
When the victim turned around and asked why he did that, Williams poked him in the forehead and pulled out a knife before eventually walking away and yelling threats.
The victim left and reported Williams to law enforcement. The Lee County Sheriff's Office was able to identify Williams and arrest him.
His guilty verdict was reached on Thursday after a one-day trial in Lee County.
