The City of Cape Coral has appointed an assistant city manager to the newly created second position to help oversee key departments and support expanding city operations.
According to the city, Mark Mason will officially join the leadership team alongside the current assistant city manager, Connie Barron, on April 28.
Mason, who previously served as the city’s finance director for a decade, will assist in managing departments including human resources, financial services, information technology, the city clerk’s office and the Cape Coral Charter School System.
The city created the second assistant city manager role, according to its officials, as part of a broader strategy to better manage its growing operations. City Council approved the position in the fiscal year 2024 budget, and Mason has been serving in an interim capacity since then.
