The 2025 NFL Draft kicked off Thursday night in Green Bay, and five athletes with roots in Southwest Florida are poised to take the next step in their football careers.
Representing a range of positions and collegiate programs, these players carry the hopes of their hometowns into one of the most anticipated events in professional football.

Athletes from Southwest Florida
Quashon Fuller, DE, Maryland (Lehigh Senior High School)
A Fort Myers native and Lehigh Senior alumnus, Fuller transferred from Florida State to Maryland in 2022.
Over three seasons with the Terrapins, he amassed 60 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, and six sacks. His standout junior year earned him All-Big Ten Honorable Mention honors. At 6-foot-3 and 264 pounds, Fuller is known for his pass-rushing prowess and versatility on the defensive line.
Fa'Najae Gotay, ILB, Auburn (North Fort Myers High School)
Gotay, a North Fort Myers High graduate, concluded his collegiate career at Auburn after transferring from Florida A&M. At Auburn's Pro Day, the 5-foot-11, 224-pound linebacker showcased his strength with 20 bench press reps and recorded a 4.80-second 40-yard dash. His agility and tackling ability make him a prospect to watch in the later rounds.
Sergio Morancy, WR, Northern Iowa (Lely High School)
Naples native and Lely High alumnus Morancy made a significant impact at Northern Iowa. In his senior season, the 6-foot-2, 185-pound receiver caught 37 passes for 543 yards and seven touchdowns. He also excelled on special teams, averaging 27.7 yards per kickoff return and earning First-Team All-Missouri Valley Conference honors as a return specialist.
Milan Tucker, WR, Florida Atlantic (Fort Myers High School)
Tucker, hailing from Fort Myers High, demonstrated versatility at Florida Atlantic, contributing as both a receiver and return specialist. In the 2024 season, he recorded 13 receptions for 145 yards and played a key role on special teams. His speed and adaptability could make him an asset in various offensive schemes.
Major Williams, FS, Carson-Newman (Dunbar High School)
A Dunbar High graduate, Williams transferred from Virginia to Carson-Newman, where he became a defensive standout. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound safety notched 53 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, and an interception in his final season. His impressive 4.40-second 40-yard dash and strong Pro Day performance have garnered attention from scouts.
