Three Naples men have been indicted in connection with a murder-for-hire plot, and they could each be facing up to 10 years in federal prison.
According to the United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida, Jesus Pujol Hernandez, 41; Miguel Marquez Romero, 29; and Paulo Sabon Montero, 54, are facing charges of conspiracy to use a facility of interstate commerce to commit murder-for-hire and use of a facility of interstate commerce with intent to commit murder-for-hire.
Court documents said Marquez Romero and Sabon Montero talked over the phone between April 16 and 17 about killing an individual, who was identified by Hernandez, for up to $30,000.
According to officials, Hernandez was hired by the intended victims' brother to carry out the plot.
The three men exchanged phone calls and organized a meeting to discuss the murder.
They met in a Naples grocery store parking lot on April 17 before being they were caught by law enforcement.
The case was investigated by the FBI with help from the Collier County Sheriff's Office.
