Two men from Florida are facing federal drug charges after being accused of mailing more than 90 pounds of methamphetamine and fentanyl from California to areas in Tampa and Southwest Florida between late January and early February.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Clarence Black Jr., 49, of Tampa, and Jarrek Fabrion Myrick, 39, of Fort Myers, traveled to California earlier this year to ship multiple drug-filled packages to Florida.
The parcels were intercepted by law enforcement, who reported that the total weight of the drugs exceeded 90 pounds.
Federal prosecutors have charged both men with conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl. If convicted, they each face a maximum penalty of life in federal prison.
Court records show Black has a previous federal conviction related to cocaine distribution, and Myrick has a prior conviction for second-degree murder.
The case was investigated by the Lee County Sheriff's Office, the Tampa Police Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
