A Cape Coral man was convicted of possession of a controlled substance on Thursday and sentenced to 60 months in prison on Friday after meth was found in his sock as he was being processed into the Lee County Jail, according to the state attorney's office via press release.
On Aug. 10, 2024, the Cape Coral Police Department received calls from drivers who saw a man and woman arguing on the sidewalk on Del Prado Boulevard, according to the press release. Although the argument was only verbal, the CCPD ran the man's name, Kyle Joseph Pickrell, 44.
Pickrell had a warrant out in Charlotte County for violating probation. After Pickrell was transported to jail, the press release notes that a small plastic baggie with white residue was found in a gum wrapper in his sock while he was being searched. The substance then tested positive for meth.
The jury returned with a guilty verdict on Thursday after a one-day trial, according to the press release. Pickrell was sentenced to 60 months in prison on Friday.
