A man has been arrested after being accused of stealing the keys to a Ford truck from a Fort Myers gym parking lot.
The owner of the truck placed the keys in a locker that is accessible to the public before going to work out. When he returned to the box, the keys were missing. When he checked the parking lot, so was the truck.
After he called the Lee County Sheriff's Office, a deputy reviewed surveillance footage of the gym and saw Stephen Thorleif Archer, 43, removing what is suspected to be a random key from a key box before exiting the gym.
The victim explained that he has a gun and $4,000 in cash inside the vehicle.
Eventually, the vehicle and Archer were located.
The keys to the vehicle and cash were returned to the owner.
Archer has been charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle, grand theft of a firearm, and grand theft less than $5,000.
He has been taken to Lee County Jail.
