Fort Myers Beach Town Council is reviewing plans to transform Moss Marina by potentially approving a seven-story hotel, aiming to revitalize the area following Hurricane Ian.
The proposed Arches Bayfront Hotel would be one of the first sights for visitors driving over the Matanzas Pass Bridge onto Fort Myers Beach, and the town council is seeking public input on the redevelopment plans during a meeting today.
The Arches Bayfront Hotel is designed to offer 263 rooms, along with dining, shopping, and entertainment options on the bayside of the island.
This project is one of several initiatives aimed at bringing attraction and life back to the island, including new condos, hotels, and even a food truck park.
Last month, Gulf Coast News spoke with Ben Freeland, owner of Moss Marina, who said they revised their plan after receiving feedback from residents and the town.
"A lot more charters and, opportunities for people to go and see the water, get on the water and access. You know, the Gulf side is great. It's a whole different experience. But when you get to the Bayside, this will be the first time the public really has firsthand access," Freeland said.
The town council meeting will include the first reading of the proposal at 9 a.m., with a second and final reading scheduled for June 2 if all goes accordingly.
