The Sanibel Captiva Community Bank has purchased the historic Edison Theatre building in downtown Fort Myers, where it currently operates a full-service branch.
The company said the purchase underscores the bank’s ongoing investment in the area’s business community and architectural heritage.
According to the bank’s leadership, the three-story building on Hendry Street will remain the institution’s downtown location.
The second and third floors, which are currently occupied by professional tenants, will continue to be leased with no changes planned.
“This iconic building represents more than just a place of business — it’s part of Fort Myers’ story,” said the bank’s president and CEO Kyle DeCicco. He added that the acquisition demonstrates a commitment to both preserving the city’s rich history and supporting its business community.
The bank, which opened the branch in 2017, offers full-service personal and business banking, including lending. It also operates several other locations across Lee County, some of which are currently undergoing rebuilding efforts due to past storm damage.
Founded in 2003, the bank is nationally recognized as one of the top-performing community banks in the country and employs more than 120 people. A majority of its staff are also shareholders, and the institution has contributed millions to local charities.
