The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said a woman has died after being attacked by an alligator while on Lake Kissimmee in Polk County.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office said one person was attacked by an alligator while kayaking in Lake Kissimmee State Park on Tuesday. FWC confirmed that the victim, a woman, went into the water during the incident. She was later recovered from the water but was pronounced dead.
FWC responded to the alligator attack at approximately 4:02 p.m. near the mouth of Tiger Creek into Lake Kissimmee. PCSO said two people were out kayaking and one was attacked by an alligator.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office helicopter, PCSO deputies and marine units were called out to assist FWC at the scene.
Polk County Fire Rescue said it also responded to the scene.
