A 70-year-old woman from Charlotte County is thanking firefighters for their help in changing a blown tire.
Charlotte County Public Safety said it happened on April 23. The woman blew the tire near Heritage Landing. Not long before that, she had gotten out of the hospital. She was recovering from health issues, which made changing the tire difficult.
“I was in the Army and worked on F-14s, but I’ve never felt as helpless as I did that night. They were kind, respectful, and funny. … I will always be grateful to them,” the woman said.
CCPS said shortly after the tire blew, a crew from Station 5 arrived. The team of firefighters saw that the woman was having a hard time, so they stopped to help. They had the tire changed in under 10 minutes.
CCPS added that, “Lieutenant Brad Butler, Firemedic Mark Hansen, and Firefighter-EMT Louis Chieffo from Station 5 were recognized with an Exceptional Service Award by the County Administration Office” for their efforts that day.
