A Naples man was arrested Tuesday and faces three charges, two felonies and one misdemeanor, all stemming from a road rage incident that involved throwing a ratchet back in April.
According to the Collier County Sheriff's Office, Albert Guillen-Garcia, 25, was involved in a road rage incident at the intersection of Davis Boulevard and Airport Road South on April 28.
According to the report, both the victim and the witness, who is Guillen-Garcia's ex-girlfriend, were driving north on Shadowlawn Drive, and while approaching Davis Boulevard, the victim noticed Guillen-Garcia in a black Toyota approaching them from the opposite direction.
When the victim stopped at that light, Guillen-Garcia and his passenger got out of their vehicle and ran up to the victim's car, the report states.
The victim said they drove away and were chased by Guillen-Garcia before he got back in his car and followed.
The driver of the Toyota began to chase the victim down Airport Road South until catching up in a turn lane. Before the victim turned, the driver pulled up behind the car. That's when deputies said Guillen-Garcia and the passenger ran up to the driver's side of the car, banging on the window.
The report states that Guillen-Garcia then hit the window with a "metal socket ratchet," breaking a window with glass, hitting both the victim and the witness.
Guillen-Garcia is accused of then throwing the ratchet toward the victim's face and shattering their phone.
The report states that Guillen-Garcia and his passengers drove away. The victim pulled into a nearby car dealership parking lot. An employee told the victim he witnessed the incident and took a photo of the Toyota's tag.
Deputies said the employee's photo and surveillance videos corroborated the victim's story.
Guillen-Garcia told deputies earlier that day he had come home from work and found items at home that were broken and thought they had been thrown.
He believed his ex-girlfriend may have been responsible, but he had no proof.
Guillen-Garcia denied having anything in his hand during the incident.
Guillen-Garcia faces two felony charges of shooting/throwing a deadly missile into a conveyance and criminal mischief over $1,000; and criminal mischief $200-$1,000, a misdemeanor.
