Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry counties is wrapping up this year's Women Build initiative and celebrating a local mom on her path toward homeownership.
On May 9, in the spirit of Mother's Day, Habitat staff, sponsors and volunteers came together to bless and build a local mom's future home in Lehigh Acres. Lissy is a single, working mom of two teenagers. They currently rent two rooms in a shared duplex, but soon, they'll have a three-bedroom of their own, with plenty of space thanks to Habitat's affordable homeownership program.
Since 2011, Women Build in Lee and Hendry counties has partnered with 30 female-headed families to build strength and stability for their children through local fundraising and volunteer efforts.
People wanting to support Habitat’s Women Build efforts in Lee and Hendry counties can still donate through next week by visiting.
