A Naples man was arrested on Sunday after being accused of stealing a woman's purse at a bus stop in Naples and now faces four charges.
According to the Naples Police Department, Febens Lordeus, 22, was accused of cycling on a bike next to the victim at the stop and then grabbing the strap of the purse. As both the suspect and the victim attempted to pull the purse away from the other, both fell down.
In the police report, an onlooker pushed Lordeus away, and he was then accused of fleeing the scene. One side of the purse's strap was ripped off during the incident. The victim sustained minor injuries.
Officers drove around the area in search of Lordeus, and one of the officers located him. Lordeus was then ordered to stop and lie down, but he is accused of ignoring the officer and running away through a parking lot.
NPD was able to apprehend Lordeus, according to the report. He is accused of attempting to break free from officers and flee again. But multiple officers were able to handle the situation and place Lordeus in handcuffs as he is accused of resisting by "pulling, tensing, and twisting."
When Lordeus was placed in the police car, medical personnel attempted to assess the suspect to see if he had any injuries. According to the police report, Lordeus is accused of being combative and spitting towards the officers and medical personnel before he was resecured in the car.
In the police report, Lordeus faces a felony robbery no firearm or weapon charge. He also faces the following three misdemeanor charges for resist officer obstruct without violence; damage property - criminal mischief over $200, under $1,000; and battery touch or strike.
