A man accused of being the gunman behind a mass shooting at Florida State University has been formally charged.
According to the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, Phoenix Ikner was formally charged with two counts of first-degree murder and seven counts of attempted first-degree murder.
The charges were filed on May 7, Ikner, 20, was transported by the Tallahassee Police Department from a Tallahassee hospital to the Leon County Detention Facility on Monday. Following his booking, Ikner will be transferred to the Wakulla County Detention Facility where he will await his first appearance in Leon County Court.
According to the sheriff's office, Ikner was transported to the Wakulla County Detention facility because he is the stepson of a Leon County Sheriff's Office Deputy.
Ikner is accused of being the suspect behind the mass shooting at FSU on April 17. Robert Morales and Tiru Chabba were shot and killed, while six other people were wounded.
Ikner was injured during the shooting, which led to his hospitalization. Ikner is being held in jail without bond.
