A former deputy with the Hendry County Sheriff's Office was sentenced to 33 months in federal prison for violating an individual's civil rights and obstructing justice.
Tyler Williams, 30, was found guilty on Feb. 7 . After handcuffing a man on July 4, 2023, Williams threw him to the ground which knocked the man unconscious.
Then, Williams wrote a false justification for the use of force in an official incident report.
A mistrial was declared in the initial trial last November because the jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict.
In addition, Williams was also fired by the Fort Myers Police Department in 2021 after a controversial drug traffic stop involving a neglected 3-year-old girl .
