A homeless Lee County man accused of murder was arrested Tuesday, days after being added to Southwest Florida’s Crime Stoppers' 10 Most Wanted list.
David Thurman, 61, faces murder charges in the death of Vely Jean-Pierre 67.
On Friday, Thurman was added to the Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers' 10 Most Wanted list for the March 16 homicide.
According to Fort Myers police, Thurman called 911 and reported finding blood and a man dead in a bathroom at a home on Braman Avenue.
However, the report notes that the caller became uncooperative over the phone and refused to give the dispatcher any ID.
Neighbors told Gulf Coast News that people shouldn't be living in the home as it may have been abandoned.
In March, police said there was a person of interest in the case but had not yet named Thurman.
He has a long criminal history with 24 prior bookings in Lee County, SWFL Crime Stoppers said. He's also been to prison seven times before for various offenses.
Thurmanw is scheduled for first appearance in court at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday.
