While Jaycee Park is currently under construction, it has an issue with the runoff of dirt into the surrounding water of the Caloosahatchee River.
The city of Cape Coral says that despite the contractor putting pollution prevention measures in place, one of them partially failed, which is what caused the runoff. The city says the contractor identified the problem and reinforced the area to prevent it from happening again.
The construction of the park is planned to be completed in the fall.
According to Cape Coral, the Department of Environmental Protection was on the construction site May 13 and found no issues.
