What started as an attempted traffic stop for an unlicensed dirt bike turned into a short pursuit and a man facing drug charges.
On Wednesday morning, Clewiston police officers tried to stop Ulises Jesus Gutierrez, 57, for riding the unlicensed dirt bike down a street. However, when he saw the flashing lights, police said he fled on the bike, crashed shortly after and was apprehended.
According to the Clewiston Police Department, Gutierrez had 20 grams of meth, more than $850 in cash and a realistic looking BB gun.
Police said he also had an identification naming him as Pablo Escobar. Clewiston police were able to uncover Gutierrez's true identity later by running his prints.
Gutierrez was charged with the following:
- Possession of methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a church
- Possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell
- Fleeing to elude law enforcement
- Driving while license is suspended (habitual)
He also had an active felony warrant out of Broward County.
According to the Clewiston Police Department, after Gutierrez was medically cleared, he was taken to Hendry County Jail without bond.
