Two North Florida women were arrested after a high-speed chase with authorities down I-75 on Sunday.
According to the Collier County Sheriff's Office, Miranda Pyor, 38, of Orange Park and Rebecca Stacey, 35, of Ocala were arrested and accused of an armed carjacking near Bell Boulevard in Fort Myers.
At 3:53 p.m., Lee County Sheriff's Office sent a Be On The Lookout alert for a black SUV that was reported as carjacked by two blonde women.
A Florida Highway Patrol officer was stationary next to an unmarked Collier County deputy on I-75 when they said they saw a black SUV matching the description of the BOLO alert driving east.
When the officer attempted to make a traffic stop, a chase ensued until CCSO set up stop sticks on the 79-mile marker, which caused the SUV to swerve into a cable barrier.
Both women got out of the vehicle. They were arrested before being airlifted to the Gulf Coast Medical Center due to the nature of the crash.
The deputy sitting in the unmarked car said that he saw a black object being thrown out of the black SUV during the chase. The object was later recovered by deputies and was identified as a loaded revolver.
