A fugitive from Fort Myers is wanted after he did not show up to court after being accused of hitting his female roommate in the face.
According to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, Gabriel Torres has been avoiding deputies for two weeks after he was arrested and released on charges of battery/domestic violence.
The victim said she and Torres had just ended their relationship a few days before she walked into their home and was hit in the face by him. According to her, he knocked her to the ground. When deputies were called, they found Torres in a neighbor's backyard. He gave them a completely different story, despite the visible injuries on the victim.
Torres was taken to jail that night, charged with battery and released the next day. He did not show up for his scheduled court hearing.
Torres has arrests in Hillsborough County, along with three previous local charges for battery and driving with a suspended license. He also has two active orders of protection against him in the last six months.
He is 6 feet 2 inches tall, 195 pounds and was last known to be living in the Pine Manor area.
