A Lee County man who was trafficking cocaine received a 30-year prison sentence on Monday.
Edgardo Diaz, Jr. was found guilty on April 15 of trafficking in cocaine, according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office. Originally, Diaz was charged with four counts of trafficking in cocaine and two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
LCSO started an investigation in May 2023 into a drug trafficking organization in North Fort Myers and Cape Coral. Detectives were then able to determine that Diaz was the distributor.
Detectives had probable cause to conduct a search warrant on Diaz's home on Castle Pines Court in North Fort Myers. According to LCSO, they located a Colt .45 caliber handgun, a Rossi .357 Magnum revolver, $13,380 and 735 grams of cocaine in a safe in Diaz's home.
With another search warrant at the same time, detectives searched a home on Aluminum Road in North Fort Myers. LCSO said that they collected two bulletproof vests, two AR-15 style rifles, an AK-47 style rifle, a shotgun and other related items.
