Lee County deputies are investigating a robbery that employees say escalated into a shooting.
"Shocking. It just happened too many times in these locations," said Dena Ivezha, an employee at Royal Arcade.
Multiple LCSO units were called out to a business robbery along South Cleveland Avenue in Fort Myers Saturday morning.
Our crew saw caution tape surrounding multiple businesses, and deputies interviewing business employees.
According to LSCO, one person has been taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Gulf Coast News spoke to one of the employees at Royal Arcade where they said the robbery took place. She said this incident could have been much worse.
"As far as I know, it happened this morning. He got in through the front door. Soon, as he got in, he started shooting at the guy who was working here. The guy tried to go to the back office, and he chased them through the back office. He went back, got the money, and the guy who was working here tried to chase him, and he shot at him again, but he didn't him the second time. He shot him in the hand," said Ivezha.
LCSO says one person has been detained.
"It's sad because we work. I work two jobs and he should get a job instead of robbing people he can live with robbing people. Go get a job," said Ivezha.
