Evangelical Christian School is heading back to the FHSAA State Championship game after a 13-0 shutout of North Florida Christian in Tuesday’s Class 1A semifinal .
The Sentinels, now 27-3 on the season, continued their postseason dominance—outscoring opponents 54-1 over their last four games.
Junior Taylor Davison led the way at the plate, going 3-for-3 with 3 RBIs. Sophomore Samantha Yzaguirre added two hits, while freshmen Payton Billie and Paizley Billie each contributed offensively. ECS racked up 11 hits and stole 8 bases, with sophomore Karsyn Mootz swiping 3 on her own.
Hayden Billie was lights out in the circle, tossing a complete-game shutout with 3 strikeouts and just 2 hits allowed.
This marks the fourth straight year Evangelical Christian has reached the state semifinals, and the third consecutive trip to the championship game. The Sentinels will now look to defend their 2024 title and bring home another crown.
No. 1 ECS plays No. 3 Geneva on Wednesday, May 21 at 4:30pm in the Class 1A finals.
